I don’t follow as much as I would like to but I used to be a fan of DC United and then just never payed attention. Now, based on proximity, RSL. I’ve still only made it to one game though.

Hmm, apparently my local team (New England Revolution) is the only one that hasn’t adopted a pompous European- style name and/or logo. Instead the name and logo are still very ‘90s American .

don’t have one. I’m more into hockey, and I’m not going to force myself to watch soccer just because some euro-snobs think everyone should.

Rapids, cause I live there. But when they started the MLS, I was a KC guy and the “KC Wiz” was great....mostly cause of the chants “Let’s go wiz!!” was hilarious. Wiz electronics sued them, and they changed to Wizards....and then everyone went euro and its Sporting KC now....majority went to FC this or that.
I got daughters, and the womens “ futbol” is something I want to see more of, as far as developmental teams, etc. And the repids finally started a u21 or some sort of team to expand development and widen options. Good things. I just hope we can go see some games soon.

I’ll give you that heinous Revolution logo, but otherwise, w hat are you talking about? Half t he league has ‘90s-American- style names —or older, since they got them from older NASL or A-League franchises. There are certainly a few extremely dumb exceptions—looking at you, Real Salt Lake, Sporting KC, and all the Uniteds except DC—but come on. Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers, San Jose Earthquakes, Vancouver Whitecaps, LA Galaxy, Chicago Fire, Montreal Impact, Colorado Rapids, Columbus Crew? The rest are just the name of the city followed by “SC” or “FC”—about as bland as possible. Dumb mascots would be fun, but there’s nothing pompous about that. I only wish the very dumbest names had survived (Tampa Bay Mutiny, Miami Fusion, and NY/NJ Metrostars).

Ever since I was a kid and they were winning A-league titles in a high school football stadium. I have a ball somewhere signed by Chance Fry, who played for both the 1983 NASL Sounders and the 1994 A-League Sounders.

I seem to be the only one who hasn't watched an Atlanta United match, but they are supposed to be pretty good. Man, that the blew up so fast.

They need an updated logo tbh. I suggest something like this.
Reminds me of Atletico Madrid’s logo.
But it can definitely stand on its own.

If pressed, I’d say the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, if only because I went to a game in their inaugural season back ‘99, when they were playing at the Bethel Park HS football field.

Whitecaps FC due to locality alone. Then Portland

Nothing wrong with FC. It represents tradition and it also reminds Americans that they are doing it wrong in naming the sport.

Not a huge fan of the name. I get the appeal. I know Real Madrid is the best team in history, but with Real Salt Lake you have a Spanish word and an English named city. It doesn’t necessarily sound right. And it doesn’t sound right if you pronounce real in English. The Real Salt Lake? As opposed to the Fake Salt Lake?

Unfortunately, MLS bores me to death due to insisting on a postseason playoff format and the criminal lack of the traditional promotion/relegation formats between leagues.

MNUFC! I went to a few games last season because my cousin has season tickets. It’s super fun! I can’t watch it on TV though.

It's not that they don't want to win it. They're just bad at it, right now.

I do wish some of the very ‘90s logos had survived...it’s remarkable that the one that has is the ‘90s-est of all.

Why not? I mean it’s true that watching MLS compared to watching the sport in Europe is like watching Indy compared to w atching F1. But it’s still watchable and sometimes enjoyable.

I got nothing against it, it’s just not my sport. Never played it as a kid. I was in football (American) and basketball, so those are the ones I gravitate to. Honestly, I don’t watch much as far as sports outside of the NFL anyway. I’ve even stopped watching F1 for the most part in the past few seasons .

Columbus Crew because they are geographically closest. We don’t get any broadcasts though. This is more teams then I last knew.

Yes. Expansions happen on regular basis. Right now Austin is getting ready to get in the game but local Republicans are trying to cockblock the effort. That would put Texas in front of New York and on the same position as California in terms of the number of MLS teams and that’s unacceptable.

Here i n Portland everyone’s nuts for the Timbers and the Thorns (women’s team). I bought season tickets to the Thorns for the first time this spring... Before we got told to stay indoors :( Did you and your kid s watch the women’s world cup this last summer?

Most of our games sell out (we’re in a junior league), and the fan demographic in Arizona is definitely not “euro-snob”. We usually sit in the supporters section with the Bandidos and chant and sing along in Spanish. However, Coyotes games are usually a quarter filled with rich Canadians. Unless the Redwings are playing, then it’s half filled with drunk Midwesterners.

We only have an USL team, but the games are tons of fun, and cheap. We sit in the supporters section and go nuts. My kids love going. Despite only being a USL team, we have got to see some real talent over the years.
